Writers

Postby Mason » Mon Sep 28, 2009 9:02 pm

For all you writers out there here is what you need to know:

As far as topics for articles go, this is what we’ve had in the past:
- Reviews (CD’s, Movies, Games, Anime)
- Band Interviews/ Write-ups
- Fashion articles
- Social, Issue and News based pieces/ opinion pieces
- Film and Television articles and recommendations
- Featured Artwork including an Artist Q&A

Note: When deciding on a topic to write on, please take into consideration
how interesting this topic will be to our audience. Being an online magazine
means we have a world wide source of distribution and many of our readers
may be from overseas so be sure to choose topics interesting to more than
just Australians.

If you have an idea for a topic that isn’t listed above then please voice
your thoughts. We’re constantly trying to increase the range and diversity of
our content, so as long as it ties in with the Pop Culture nature of the magazine
then we are totally open to your suggestions.

We haven’t incorporated Themes into our issues just yet so unless
otherwise specified you don’t need to worry about fitting in with
a theme other then pop culture.

Word Counts are as follows:
CD Reviews: 1 Page Spread (400 words)
Movie, Game and Anime Reviews: 1 Page Spread (500 - 600 words) 2 Page Spread (1000 - 1100 words)
Band Interviews: 2 Page Spread (1000 -1100 words)
Band Write-ups: 1 Page Spread (500 - 600 words)
Fashion Articles: 1 Page Spread (500 words)
Social, Issue and News pieces: 1 Page Spread (500 – 600 words)2 Page Spread (1000 – 1100 words)

NOTE: All 2 Page Spreads must be discussed and confirmed with
the editor based on their interest and value.

All articles should include a heading as well as the writer’s name to be
used in the final magazine.

Artist

Alternatively if you're more an artist than a writer and interested in submitting
artworks to be featured, these are the details:

Images need to be at least 150dpi each.

Initially, send at least 5 images that best display your artistic style.
If we like what we see we may ask you to send more to be included.

If you are interested in being the Featured Artist of the issue, once you
have contacted us and been accepted you would also be sent through
a handful of questions regarding your style and artwork, (these are to
accompany your artworks in the magazine and offer readers an insight into
yourself and your work).

We accept these file extensions: .jpg, .pdf, .png, .tiff.

NOTE: If you have typeface in the documents, make sure they're
all embedded.

Please zip your files! If you don't know how, download a zip program
for windows (WinZip); or, if you use a Mac, simply choose your file(s),
right-click on them and select Compress (or Archive - depending on which
machine you are on).
